My dear friends in Texas, I miss you.  I'm going to be back in town the 14th through the 18th of May for my brother's graduation...put me on your calendars for the 15th in College Station!  I'm looking forward to being back in the Lone Star State.....even though it's only for a short while...

SPRING!!!!!  Never before in my life have I so appreciated this season.  Birds and bugs and buds...the colors and sounds of life are so inviting.  Why yes, Nature, I WILL partake of your amazingness....I missed my hammock much over those long grey months...

So I have two room mates.  One is my best friend Allison from Cali, and the other is Saresh from India...they're both 31.  I love Saresh...we talk about light hearted things together, we carpool to school together, and sometimes we happen to eat dinner together while watching tv.  Saresh has a wife (I didn't realize this for a while), but he's apparently been asking her for a divorce for years.  It was an arranged marriage, and they've only actually lived together for 4 months a few years ago.  She lives in New York these days, and came to Worcester to visit a couple weeks ago with about ten members of her family.

One morning they came knocking on the apartment door...I stumbled out of my room, embodying all that is the morning to answer it (when it became apparent that no one else was going to).  I'd met them briefly a couple days before, so I welcomed them in and offered them a seat in the living room, assuming they'd come to see Saresh.  "We're actually here to see you."  Saresh's brother in law told me.  I stared at him, confused.  "You probably know that Saresh asked my sister for a divorce last night."  I had no idea.  "We want to know if he's seeing anyone else." Again, no idea.  "This is all very sudden, and strange, and we want to know what has changed in his life." No idea.  Meanwhile...the women all start crying, and lecturing me on what is and isn't appropriate in Indian culture.  I was speechless, and very much wishing I could hide...at the very least wishing I had a bra on.  This goes on for about half an hour...maybe more...before they start asking me about abortion laws in the US and start giving me dirty looks that make me wonder if they suspect I've been sleeping with him...

It's about this point that Allison emerges from her room.  Thank God.  "I think these are things you need to take up with Saresh, not us."  She says.  Why didn't I think of that?  "Is there anything else you need from here?" She asks...  A few of the women wander into Saresh's room and start digging amongst his things, murmuring about a marriage certificate.  "This is not okay," Allison says, "If you need something from Saresh, you need to call him, he needs to be here if you are going to go through his things."  The women look a little irked, and the wife hastily gathers her things from his room.  A few minutes later they leave.  At last.  What an awkward morning...

In the midst of the craziness, the wife forgot to pack her facewash from the bathroom.  I figured that she certainly wouldn't be coming back for it, and took the liberty of adopting it as my own...I'd been needing to re-stock...  Allison and I were watching tv in the livingroom tonight and Saresh walks in holding the facewash:
Saresh: "Does this belong to either of you?"
Mo: "No, but I've been using it..."
Allison: "Do you realize that's made to bleach your skin?"
Mo: "Haha....Oh...."
We all had a good laugh... no wonder I've been becoming so pale...

A roomie portrait... I'm laughing because I accidentally sat on Griffin the cat's tail...

I recorded a song and put it online!  It's not that great...but it's a start.  myspace.com/mopepin  .  I'm feeling very uninspired this semester.  I'm taking all required classes, and they're all very dull.  Economics, project management, research design and methods.  Blah. Blah. Blah.  This snow storm was amazing, in that it dumped like 6 inches on us....and then frozen ice fell from the sky...and then we got 4 inches of rain that ruined any chance of taking advantage of the snowboarding...it made me sad.

The winter is getting me down.  I'm on the fifth floor of Clark's library, and out the window is a sea of white.  The snow flurries are huge today, and the wind is blowing them at a steep angle.  The wind is howling...it's quite the stereotypical winter scene, really.  My skin is slowly becoming translucent.  Pretty soon the inner workings of my body will be on display, and/or the layer of winter chub that I've been accumulating.  I've definitely felt the urge to hibernate...there's no SUN.  I miss the sun.  The cold and snow I don't mind in the least, but I miss the sun.  I'll put up a pic or two of my library view soon...
